Dernier concert d'Eric avec les Bluesbreakers de Mayall.
Avec The Glands Eric partira ensuite pour un "Tour" en Grèce en passant par l'Allemagne et la Yougoslavie.

The Glands se composait de;

Jack Milton – Batterie (remplacé par Makis Saliaris)
Bernie Greewood – Saxophone

Faisant les premières parties d'un groupe local The Juniors, ils jouaient principalement les répertoires de Chuck Berry et des Stones et étaient généralement payés en hébergement et nourriture.
Jack Milton décida de rentrer en Angleterre et un musicien du cru Makis Saliaris le remplaça.
Début Octobre 1965 Thanos Sogioul le leader et manager des Juniors mourut dans un accident de la route et le guitariste Kara Kadas blessé était dans l'incapacité de jouer.
Afin que les Juniors et les Glands puissent garder leurs engagements Clapton assura la guitare au sein des Juniors.
Les Glands étaient complètement fauchés et commençant à avoir le mal du pays vendirent leur matériel afin de pouvoir se payer un billet retour vers l'Angleterre.
Eric a réussi à conserver sa Gibson Les Paul.

Le 4 Novembre Eric reprendra sa place au sein des Bluesbreakers où Peter Green l'avait remplacé.

Eric Clapton, son groupe et son équipe ont choisi de jouer les dates restantes sur le tour après la mort de trois membres de l’équipe d’EC et de Stevie Ray Vaughan dans un accident d’hélicoptère survenu le 27 août à East Troy, dans le Wisconsin.
Un DVD très bien réalisé, avec menus et une multitude de bonus. C'était le premier spectacle après l'accident d'hélicoptère qui a coûté la vie à Stevie Ray Vaughan et à quatre autres personnes. Le groupe semblait vraiment jouer avec une intensité particulière face à l'émotion, un très bon document.

Le set de Clapton s'est terminé par une reprise magistrale de 20 minutes de "Sweet Home Chicago" avec Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmie Vaughan, Buddy Guy et Robert Cray.
Après le concert S.R. Vaughan devait rentrer à Chicago par la route, ayant appris qu'il y avait une place libre dans un hélicoptère il se ravisa et décida de profiter de cette aubaine.
Peu avant 1 heure du matin le 27 Août l'hélicoptère décolla dans un épais brouillard et s'écrasa très peu de temps après.
Outre S.R. Vaughan, le pilote Jeffrey Brown, trois membres de l'équipe d'Eric Clapton Colin Smythe son tour manager, Bobby Brooks son agent hollywoodien et Nigel Browne son garde du corps furent tués sur le coup.
Le coroner du comté de Walworth convoqua Clapton et J. Vaughan pour identifier les corps.
En 1985, S.R.Vaughan considéré comme le meilleur guitariste de sa génération a partagé un Grammy Award avec d'autres musiciens pour l'album "Blues Explosion" dans la catégorie du Blues l. Il a également remporté un Grammy Award en 1990 dans la catégorie contemporaine pour l'album "In Step" Paru en 1989.

En 1996 EPIC publie un CD (485067 2) et Epic Music Video un DVD (EDV 201817 9) Titrès "A Tribute To Stevie Ray Vaughan"
Le DVD présente des interviews de Jimmie Vaughan, Bonnie Raitt, B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy et Robert Cray concernant SVR.
Clapton participe à 6 titres et avoue avoir beaucoup eu le trac pour interpréter "Ain't Gone'n Give Up on Love" au niveau de SVR.

Pendant que le groupe Ty Stephens susurrait des reprises des années 70, les 800 spectateurs étaient assis à des tables joliment décorées, tandis qu'un élégant dîner assis précédait le concert.
Soudainement après le repas, dans une parfaite synchronisation le noir se fait dans la salle et un feu d’artifice illumine le ciel qui apparaît au dessus de nos têtes. Le toit s’est escamoté à l’insu de tous, ceci explique peut-être en partie le nom donné à cette salle.
Alors que nous regardions le feux d’artifice, la scène s’est avancé et surélevé. Nous ne sommes plus qu’a environ six mètres de la scène.
