Higher Power sur Journeyman Deluxe Edition

Comme quelques-uns d’entre vous peut-être j’étais surpris et étonné tant B.B et E.C étaient amis de ne pas voir E. Clapton sur le plateau de "B.B. King's Blues Summit 100" l’album hommage à B.B. King organisé par Joe Bonamassa.
Cependant, hier sur le site "Jace Media Music" avec la mention "Vient d'être annoncé" The Thrill Is Gone par Chaka Khan et Eric Clapton sur la piste 8 du CD 1.

Sur le dernier single de Stephen Dale Petit “ A Better Man “ on peut entendre Eric Clapton délivrer un très bon solo.
Si comme moi vous n’êtes pas un familier de S.D. Petit voici un rapide descriptif de ce musicien.
Stephen Dale Petit (né le 19 avril 1969) est un guitariste, chanteur, auteur-compositeur et musicien de Blues américain.

Son expérience de la guitare blues a débuté dès son plus jeune âge en Californie. A l’âge de sept ans il a reçu sa première guitare acoustique. Dès ses débuts Stephen Dale Petit a eu les mêmes influences qu’Eric Clapton. Il a rencontré Albert King et B.B. King et a brièvement improvisé avec lui.
Au milieu des années 1980 Petit quitte la Californie pour s'installer à Londres. C’est là qu’il rencontre Clapton.
Bien que les deux artistes soient amis depuis des décennies, cette collaboration marque leur première expérience d'enregistrement ensemble. Ils ont passé deux jours en studio.

« Ce serait génial de faire un solo dessus » Mais l'instant d'après, j'ai pensé qu' Eric devrait le faire »
« Eric m'a demandé si j'avais quelque chose de précis en tête. Je lui ai dit que tout ce qu'il ressentirait instinctivement serait parfait. J'avais spécialement composé la fin pour lui – je savais qu'il s'y sentirait à sa place »
« Quand il eut terminé, il me demanda ce que j’en pensais et je lui répondis : « J’ai envie de pleurer, j’avais l’impression qu’Eric avait composé une musique venue des cieux… c’est magique, profondément émouvant et d’une puissance incroyable »

“ A Better Man“ figurera également sur le septième album de SD Petit “ Be The Love “ prévu pour février 2026.

Jimmie Vaughan est actuellement en tournée européenne, hier soir il se produisait dans un petit club de Londres, le 229. Pour le plus grand bonheur des spectateurs un invité surprise l’a rejoint, Clapton himself.
